Computer Image Analysis in Bio-sciences

We cordially invite you to an international scientific workshop titled: Computer Image Analysis In BIO-SCIENCES which will be held on 22-24 June, 2014 in Olsztyn. The workshop will provide a platform for discussion on the aspects connected with image analysis in biological sciences with the use of computer systems. Lectures taking place during the workshop will be focused on fundamental issues and concepts of image analysis in biological sciences. In addition, specific applications will be discussed and examples of practical implementation presented.

Śniadecki Individual Scientific Award for Dr. Kupczewska

tn dr karczewska kupczewskaOn December 11, 2013 on decision of Division V Medical Sciences Dr. Monika Karczewska-Kupczewska from IAR&FR’s Department of Prophylaxis of Metabolic Diseases was granted Jędrzej Śniadecki Individual Scientific Award for a series of papers on the relationship between tissue insulin sensitivity, factors regulating appetite and parameters reflecting the metabolism of brain tissues.


On the beginning of December 2013 IAR&FR PAS initiated the implementation of a new project financed from the 7th Frammework Programme. The project titled "Traditional Food Network to improve transfer of knowledge for innovation" involves 30 partners such as inter alia SMEs organizations, associations of traditional producers, scientific and research institutions, as well as universities.

The main objective of Trafoon is to facilitate the transfer of knowledge between science and business on the European, national and regional level.

Scientists from Olsztyn take THANKSGIVING DAY IN U.S.

Prof. Zenon Zduńczyk’s paper titled: "Gastrointestinal morphology and function in turkeys fed diets diluted with whole grain wheat" was recognized by Poultry Science Association and promoted in American media during this year’s Thanksgiving Day (November 28, 2013) as the most interesting scientific study on turkeys.

The article appeared in July issue of prestigious Poultry Science Journal and is an effect of research project conducted by the IAR&FR’s Department of Biological Function of Food in collaboration with the University of Warmia and Mazury Faculties of Poultry Science and Histology and Embryology.
